St Andrews Church had a stand in the Heritage Tent at this years Heckington show (29/30 July 2017). Not only were we there to have a presence at the show, but we also wanted to publicise our recent lottery success in being awarded a Resilience Grant. In conjunction with our partners at Heritage Lincolnshire a group of volunteers staffed the stand, engaging people in what we were up to and what we hoped to achieve, as well as asking them if they would like to be involved. Furthermore, we were very fortunate to have the considerable help of Newcastle University in the form of Dr Simon Bowen, and creative agency ‘Draw and Code’ who provided some very interesting electronic devices, including a computerised bell simulator that replicated all the 42,000 combinations of sequences that could be achieved using the 8 bells of St Andrews. Although quite muddy and wet the display created some significant interest and gave the team some good lessons for the future. Photos of the show supplied by Dr Simon Bowen.
